VIHSTA
Visionary Interprofessional Health
Science Training in Arizona
VIHSTA is a collaborative training program between Arizona’s universities and rural or underserved communities to provide training for health sciences students so that they will be competent to serve Arizona’s diverse population and to collaborate with other professionals and community members to promote community health. The VIHSTA program is funded by the Arizona Area Health Education System (AzAHEC).
Students will work as interprofessional teams within each community to identify the needs and resources of the community and collaborate with a local coalition or agency to develop and provide a community intervention to address a health issue. To complete the learning process, students will evaluate the outcomes of the intervention.
